Universal AI University Appoints Silicon Valley Visionary Dr. Simon Mak as Vice Chancellor

 

India’s first Artificial Intelligence (AI) University, the Universal AI University, has appointed Dr. Simon Mak as its Vice-Chancellor. Dr. Mak, an international academic, strategist, and award-winning professor, brings vast expertise from Silicon Valley start-ups. Prof. Tarundeep Singh Anand, Chancellor of Universal AI University, announced his appointment today. With this appointment, Universal AI University becomes the first university in India to have a foreign national, an American, as its Founding Vice-Chancellor.

Dr. Simon Mak will collaborate closely with Prof. Tarundeep Singh Anand, the Chancellor of Universal AI University, to lead a team committed to elevating the university's global stature through a cutting-edge AI-driven curriculum. Dr. Mak will ensure the university adheres to ethical global standards in education. He will contribute his expertise in areas such as rankings, accreditation, curriculum and degree design, executive education development, global programs, and community service initiatives.

Prof Tarundeep Singh Anand stated, “Dr. Mak, well-acquainted with the strategic and entrepreneurial landscape, recognizes that the Universal AI University is distinctively unique and excellent, providing the finest blend of multilateral AI-led education in various streams to create global corporate leaders of future. With his long-standing experience in nurturing start-ups and entrepreneurship in Silicon Valley, he will drive the highest ideals for university education. I also would like to bring the highest standards of ethical standards to university education in India.”

About Dr. Simon Mak

Dr. Simon Mak previously served as Executive Director of the Caruth Institute for Entrepreneurship and Professor of Practice in the Department of Strategy, Entrepreneurship, and Business Economics at the SMU Cox School of Business. At SMU, he was a leading researcher in blockchain technology and created an MBA course titled Blockchain Entrepreneurship, where he taught about CryptoKitties, one of the first NFT (Non-Fungible Token) startup business models.

He holds a B.Tech degree from the renowned Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), USA, and earned his MBA and Ph.D. from the SMU Cox School of Business. He has been a successful entrepreneur in Silicon Valley and Japan and has traveled to London, Berlin, Malta, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Israel, Beijing, and Shanghai to research blockchain startups.
